Employment

Dollar SignStudent employment is a practical way to help: (1) defer the cost of your education; (2) gain useful experience in your field while in school.
There are two different types of student employment as follows:

College Work-Study Program (FWSP)
This program provides part-time employment for students with financial need who are making satisfactory academic progress toward their educational goal.
Eligible students must satisfy Financial Aid Standards of Academic Progress, and maintain minimum enrollment of six credit hours. The rate is $7.00per hour and most students work between 15 to 18.5 hours per week.
The amount students can earn is dependent upon their financial need and other aid awarded. The majority of students are employed on campus; however, some off-campus opportunities for employment are available.

College Work Study Process

  • Students who have 2007-2008 FAFSA information on file will log now log onto the new electronic portal called Collegeworks to apply for a position.
  • New students will click the student sign up now tab  to create a profile and application
  • Input first name, then last name space, followed by your DCCCD student id# (for ex. John Doe 1234567)
  • The office will screen your application and update your profile via the Collegeworks portal, you will have to return to the site to view your status

Off-Campus Employment
Students who need assistance finding a job off-campus should contact the Eastfield Career Planning & Placement Center. The wage rate varies with each job and financial need is not a requirement.
